Canada’s housing market has recently shown a softer side, with activity down about 7% compared to last year and national sales slipping by less than 1% month-over-month. As a REALTOR® with Renanza Realty Inc. and years of experience representing clients across the Greater Vancouver area, I’ve seen how factors like trade tensions, fluctuating oil prices, and persistent inflation can influence buyer confidence. Rising Canadian bond yields have kept fixed mortgage rates elevated, yet industry voices still anticipate a busy close to Q3 and into Q4. The Bank of Canada is currently holding its policy rate steady, with inflation hovering near 3% for a second month. Some economists are already discussing the possibility of rate cuts in 2027, while the outlook for 2026 suggests either stability or a minor hike. Much of the market’s momentum hinges on the outcome of a US trade deal, which could act as a significant catalyst for recovery. For buyers and sellers alike, the next 6 to 12 months will be important to watch closely and approach with readiness. My focus remains on helping clients navigate these shifts with informed strategies tailored to our local market.
